Zooplankters of the genus Daphnia and Phylum Rotifera are used as models for research on aquatic ecology of Chileans lakes.

We focus our research on shifts in life historical, reproductive and morphological traits in response to abiotic and biotic influences. Our research interests span from the individual to the ecosystem level.

Our current research includes:

  • Changes in life history traits in response to infochemicals from conspecifics and heterospecific natural enemies.
  • The distribution of planktonic organisms in Chile, using tools from biogeography and complex systems theory.
  • Individual, demographic, populational and communitary responses of zooplankton to contaminants.
